Choose between two majors, Human and Social Services and Human and Social Services - Addiction Studies, and prepare to work in settings aligned with your interests. Focus areas may include mental health, chemical dependency treatment, corrections, developmental disabilities, and community-based services.

Graduates are eligible to register as a social work assistant through the Ohio Counseling, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board, providing a strong foundation for entering the field.

Our human services practicum connects you to community agencies where you’ll provide service under professional supervision. This is a chance to apply your studies and work with employers who often hire our graduates. Companies include the Talbert House, Cincinnati Animal Care, River Rocks Recovery, and others.

Choosing Cincinnati State means choosing a path with proven career outcomes. Our graduates earn more than those from any other Ohio community college, thanks to programs designed to deliver real-world skills and direct connections to employers.

For Human and Social Services students, you’ll be eligible for work as a social work assistant, case work aid, social service assistant, and human service assistant, joining a field that’s expected to grow by 17 percent through 2030.
